Controlled Environments
Directive 2010/63/EU · FELASA · Integrated biosafety
Animal facilities under Directive 2010/63/EU and FELASA guidelines, with integrated biosafety.
In detail
In vivo research demands environments where animal welfare and experimental integrity are the same requirement — not competing priorities. We design animal facilities under Directive 2010/63/EU and FELASA guidelines: barrier facilities, rooms with individually ventilated cages (IVC), preparation and recovery surgical suites, and rigorous physical separation between housing, procedure and researcher areas.
HVAC engineering in an animal facility has no equivalent: independent air handling per room, cage extraction management, odour control that preserves working conditions for research staff, and pressure differentials designed for the specific biosafety classification of each programme. The environment does not contaminate the data. That is the design requirement.
