We open a new project together with Histocell

29 de noviembre de 2022 · Equipo Enforced

We are opening this major new space dedicated to the GMP manufacturing of sterile Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products.

The 800 m² facility was housed within the current medical device manufacturing plant, located in Larrabetzu. Between both facilities, Histocell now has 2,000 m² for the development and manufacture of its cell therapy and biological medicines, in addition to its research and development line for medical devices and dermocosmetic products.

It was 12 intense months, with changes, with challenges that our teams managed to weather, because if one thing is clear, it is that this project succeeded thanks to the tireless work of both companies' teams involved.

We share the excitement for the future from the start of this second phase of the Histocell Regenerative Medicine growth project. Because we also shared the first phase of this “journey” back in 2016, when Julio Font and Marta Acilu, together with their team, decided to take on the design and construction of their first medical device and dermocosmetic products plant.

Because we also shared the first phase of this “journey” back in 2016, when Julio Font and Marta Acilu, together with their team, decided to take on the design and construction of their first medical device and dermocosmetic products plant.

For the current cell and biological therapy plant, our responsibility and dedication were total. We developed a turnkey project that included the design, supply and installation of the QC Laboratories, common areas, warehouses, Cell Therapy Rooms, including the HVAC system, CO2 and various medical gases installation, electrical installation and automated control of all spaces. We also supplied and installed the equipment and furniture for these facilities. All in compliance with national and international regulations (ISO14644, CFR 21 PART 11, etc.)

That said, beyond the technical and historical facts of our relationship, we must admit that the challenges we had to overcome were, to say the least… exasperating.

Many are probably smiling right now, like someone who has navigated the same turbulent waters of bureaucracy, a supplier that failed to deliver on their commitments, and many other experiences we could list. We will not comment on the context, the state of the supply chain, inflation, etc.

And we will not go into them, because what was clear from the beginning was that this expansion, our challenge, would have as its essential goal to support the research and manufacture of regenerative medicines for cell therapies, a challenge shared by everyone, for everyone's benefit.

We are very glad to have once again been part of this project, which, like others, will benefit everyone's health.

We will keep working to drive biotechnology and the various fields of science forward, so that together we can keep offering cutting-edge solutions to today's and tomorrow's challenges.
