Last week, our representatives, Maximiliano Actis (Sales Director) and Mercedes Palacios (Madrid Office Director), had the opportunity to take part in the business visit “ All-in-One Pharma Event: AEPIMIFA” organised by IMA in Bologna. IMA Group is a global benchmark in technological solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, and this experience allowed them to see first-hand the latest innovations transforming the sector.
Exploring Innovation at Every Turn
The experience began early, when the whole group set off together from Madrid — a moment that helped strengthen camaraderie and business ties. The carefully designed agenda combined technical presentations, tours of specialised plants and opportunities to exchange ideas with other pharmaceutical industry professionals.
The day began with a welcome lunch at IMA's internal restaurant, an ideal setting for the first informal contact with the host team. They then had the opportunity to get to know the IMA Life, IMA Active and IMA Automation divisions through dynamic presentations. These sessions offered a clear view of the comprehensive technological solutions IMA provides to the sector: from lyophilisation and sterilisation systems to solid dosing equipment and automated packaging lines. The first day closed with an enriching Q&A and discussion session, before enjoying dinner at the Palazzona di Maggio.
The second day began with a trip to Castel San Pietro, where a visit was made to the IMA Life plant specialised in aseptic processing technologies and lyophilisation solutions. On this experience, Mercedes commented:
“We saw a wide variety of equipment, innovative solutions that allow critical production processes to be developed safely. At every moment, IMA's interest in offering the optimal solution for the customer's need is clear.”
They then headed to the IMA Active plant, where they saw first-hand the production of equipment specialised in solid oral dosage handling, and received a detailed explanation of process integration and optimisation strategies. The experience continued with lunch at IMA's restaurant, the perfect opportunity to exchange impressions and assess the possibilities of implementing some of the solutions presented. In the afternoon, the visit concluded with a tour of the IMA Automation plant, where Maximiliano noted:
“The range of products this strategic business unit has is immense; we couldn't see first-hand every project they are working on. However, we had the privilege of seeing one of the fully automated production lines for medical device assembly that will go live at a major client in the coming months, and it was mind-blowing, I think, for everyone present. This trip already shows us that many of the questions we seek answers to in our daily work are the right ones, and that there are many others we need to ask ourselves as a team so we can keep leading and, in this way, offer the same to our clients.”
At each of the plants visited, they explored innovative processes that are revolutionising the pharmaceutical industry.
